F1 Visa Employment Regulations

Can I Work on an F1 Student Visa?

Yes! Per the federal regulations, F1 visa holders can work on-campus up to 20 hours per week during the semester. During official university breaks, F1 visa holders can work on-campus up to 40 hours per week.

Off-campus work is strictly prohibited on the F1 student visa.

What is Employment for Immigration Purposes?

The federal goverment has very strict rules about working while on an F1 student visa. Unauthorized employment in the United States has serious consequences, such as termination of your F1 visa status.
